Comprehensive Safety Analysis , or better known as CSA , is a new enforcement and compliance model that will help the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and its state partners to address safety problems, long before they are a cause for concern. Once fully implemented, road safety for motor carriers and the public will never be the same again. This training helps drivers to adjust to the changes in the transportation industry more effectively and seamlessly. It will likewise allow for the innovative use of technology for the tracking and updating of safety performance data. Thus, allowing for the maximum use of safety resources, and thereby improving safety performance.
OSHA's Position On CSA Training
Along with OSHA’s directives on motor carriage safety, Comprehensive, Safety, Accountability (CSA) from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), together with State Partners and industry, is working to prevent commercial motor vehicle (CMV) crashes, fatalities, and injuries on our nation's highways. This compliance model will be especially useful in situations where a safety problem could arise even in situations where no OSHA regulation has been broken. The objectives of our engaging CSA training videos and other training tools are to provide an overview of CSA and to help management and drivers understand exactly what CSA is all about and what it specifically means to them. This will assist drivers in avoiding "high point" violations and have "good" inspections go into the Safety Measurement System (SMS). The specifics covered by the topics in our videos include:
- CSA Basics (DOT – CSA Basics)
- Unsafe Driving Procedures (FMCSR Parts 92 and 97)
- Hours of Service Compliance (HOS)
- Driver Fitness and Health (FMCSR Parts 383 and 391)
