OSHA's Position On HAZMAT Labeling Training

OSHA has issued a final ruling when it comes to requiring employers to ensure that containers, which are being used for hazardous materials, be properly labeled according to standardized labeling systems. If the containers have been received from an outside source, the original DOT-compliant labeling must be retained. This is to prevent a situation in which a hazardous material is transferred to another container (or kept in a container where the label has been removed) and employees are unknowingly exposed without having taken the proper precautions beforehand. The subjects that are presented by the DVD videos in this section include:

  • Where you would normally find hazardous labels
  • OSHA’s Mandatory Labeling Requirements (OSHA29 CFR 1910.1200(f))
  • The Most Common Labeling Systems
  • The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Labeling System
  • HAZMAT Training Requirements (OSHA 1910.120(e)(1)(i))
  • Other HAZWOPER training topics.
