This course is designed to increase your awareness of these dangers and equip you with the knowledge to protect yourself and your co-workers.
We will cover the full spectrum of heat-related illnesses, starting with the most dangerous: heat stroke. A person suffering from heat stroke has a body temperature that has risen dramatically because their body can no longer self-regulate. Symptoms include confusion, disorientation, slurred speech, seizures, hot and dry skin, and potential loss of consciousness.
Next, we address heat exhaustion, which is serious and has the potential to progress into heat stroke. This occurs when the body loses a great deal of water and salt. Victims of heat exhaustion will often sweat profusely, experience strong thirst, headaches, nausea, dizziness, weakness, and may become irritable or urinate smaller volumes.
