Course Overview

Sexual harassment in the workplace is not only illegal but also damaging to productivity, morale, and individual careers. Studies show that around 50% of women and 20% of men have experienced harassment at work, highlighting the importance of awareness and prevention.

There are two types of sexual harassment: quid pro quo and hostile environment. Quid pro quo occurs when job benefits are given or withheld based on sexual favors, and even a single instance is illegal. Hostile environment harassment involves a pattern of unwanted conduct that creates an intimidating or offensive work atmosphere. This can include unwelcome sexual advances, inappropriate jokes, comments, or touching, and it can be based on gender identity, sexual orientation, or pregnancy.

Sexual harassment can occur between people of any gender or rank and can involve third parties such as vendors or customers. It can happen in person, online, or over the phone, even outside of the physical workplace. Employees are protected by law, and retaliation for reporting harassment is illegal.
