Identify biases in safety choices
Apply error-reducing strategies
Cultivate proactive safety culture
Strengthen hazard identification
Why do rational people make irrational safety choices? Most employers assume workers want to avoid injury, yet accidents happen daily because of deliberate unsafe acts. This course, hosted by safety expert Tom Harvey, digs into the psychology of the "Human Factor." It challenges the dangerous mental trap of immediate gratification, where the time saved by a shortcut feels better in the moment than the long-term security of following procedure. Through humor and relatable reenactments, participants will learn to recognize the subtle pull of peer pressure and complacency, gaining the mental tools to override their "human nature" and consciously choose the safer path every time.
