Course Description

Just as precise steps are mandatory when shutting down equipment for servicing or maintenance, a critical set of procedures must be followed to ensure a safe and controlled return to normal operating condition.

This training walks you through the comprehensive process for the Restoration of Energy after servicing is complete. The steps are designed to protect both the equipment and all personnel in the area.

You will learn that the process begins with a meticulous check: first, ensuring the machinery or equipment is properly reassembled and that no parts have been left behind. Next, you must inspect the machinery to confirm the removal of all nonessential items, such as forgotten tools, which could cause damage or injury upon startup.

The critical safety phase involves verifying that all employees are safely outside danger zones. This is followed by notifying affected employees about several key actions:

  • The removal of lockout/tagout devices.
  • That energy will be re-applied.
  • That controls have been verified to be in a neutral position.

A core safety rule you will master is that only the authorized employee who applied the lockout/tagout device may remove it. This authorized employee is also responsible for notifying all affected personnel that the servicing or maintenance is complete and the machine or equipment is ready to resume operation.

By mastering these protocols, you will ensure a compliant and safe work environment every time a machine is returned to service. Now it’s time to re-energize the machinery and get back to work!
