Course Overview

This mandatory training is designed for commercial motor vehicle ( CMV ) drivers, including those pursuing a CDL , to master the systematic pre-trip inspection required before every trip by the FMCSA . The course provides step-by-step instruction on conducting a thorough vehicle check from the front of the tractor to the rear of the trailer, covering critical components such as the engine compartment fluids and belts, the entire air brake system and its required functional tests, tires , wheels , suspension , and the coupling system . Participants learn how to identify specific defects, such as worn brake linings, illegal welds, and fluid leaks, and how to properly complete the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) to ensure safety on the road, prevent costly breakdowns or citations during roadside inspections, and build the confidence necessary for passing the CDL skills exam.
