This MSHA Part 46 8-Hour Surface Mining Refresher course provides fundamental training to experienced surface miners, ensuring they stay up-to-date with current safety protocols and hazard prevention. This course covers crucial topics such as identifying common causes of mining injuries and fatalities, understanding health and safety standards, proper equipment handling, and safety measures for working with electricity and explosives. Additionally, it addresses regulations for safe materials handling, chemical exposure, and atmospheric hazards like dust and noise.
Designed for surface miners with at least one year of experience, this course also caters to a variety of individuals on mining sites, including office staff, contractors, and visitors.
Each mining operation has a unique, MSHA-approved training plan tailored to its specific requirements and operational standards. In combination with our other MSHA refresher online courses, this 8-hour program can be used as part of a company’s MSHA-approved training plan to fulfill annual refresher requirements for 30 CFR 46.8. While our courses are designed to support Part 46 annual refresher training, applicability may vary depending on individual training plans. It is the responsibility of your mine site operator to ensure compliance with MSHA regulations and verify that all employees receive the training specified in their approved plan.
