Training Objectives

Maintain an unobstructed line of sight by managing load height

Apply specific protocols for seeking assistance (team lifting) for excessive weights

Course Overview

Your back is not a crane.

Manual material handling is the leading cause of back injuries in the workplace. This training short replaces bad habits with proper ergonomic mechanics. We explain why pushing a cart is biomechanically superior to pulling it, allowing your body weight to do the work rather than straining your spine.

We also address the critical "Line of Sight" rule: if the stack is too high to see over, you are walking blind into a potential accident. Finally, we establish protocols for using mechanical aids. Why struggle with a heavy load when a hoist or dolly can do the work for you? Watch this video to learn how to move materials without sacrificing your body.

No Worries. Here's Some Helpful Info.

Improper handling can result in damage to the materials, damage to the facility, and injuries to employees.
Pushing a cart is preferred because it allows the operator a much better line of sight of their surroundings.
You should either get help from other employees or use a mechanical lifting device to complete the task.
A tool belt allows you to carry tools while keeping your hands free for balance and movement.
You should always move in a slow, controlled manner to ensure you maintain balance and avoid hazards.
