You will learn essential prevention strategies, including proper layering, hydration, and nutrition. Crucially, the course outlines the immediate steps for treating a hypothermic person, emphasizing gentle handling, providing insulation and dry shelter, administering warm (non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated) fluids, and understanding the differences between passive and active rewarming techniques to safely stabilize the victim while awaiting professional medical help.
