Course Overview

Prompt emergency response is essential when a worker experiences severe heat illness during HAZWOPER operations.

The course also covers safe and effective cooling methods while waiting for EMS to arrive. Participants will learn when it is appropriate to move an affected worker to a cooler location, safely remove outer clothing or personal protective equipment, and begin rapid cooling using approved site resources such as cooling tubs, cold water, fans, or ice packs.

By understanding these emergency response practices, workers can act confidently and help improve outcomes during heat-related medical emergencies.
