Identify factors that affect forklift dynamic stability
Apply safe operating practices during forklift movement
Forklift stability isn’t only affected by weight and load position.
This training explains how sudden movements, slopes, and unstable loads can cause the center of gravity to shift unexpectedly. Rapid acceleration, hard braking, or sharp turns can quickly move the balance point and increase the risk of tip-overs. Slopes and ramps can also change how weight is distributed, making proper driving techniques essential for maintaining control.
You’ll also learn how situational awareness plays a key role in forklift safety. By driving smoothly, securing loads properly, and staying alert to obstacles, operators can maintain stability and prevent accidents such as tip-overs, falling loads, or collisions.

Dynamic stability refers to how forklift balance is affected by movement such as acceleration, braking, turning, and lifting loads.
Sudden acceleration, braking, or turning can shift the center of gravity quickly and increase the risk of a tip-over.
Turning on a slope shifts the center of gravity sideways and can cause the forklift to become unstable or tip over.
Loads that shift, tilt, or move during transport can unexpectedly change the center of gravity and cause instability.
Situational awareness means staying alert to surroundings, obstacles, and people to avoid sudden movements or collisions.
