The recommended actions are "RUN, HIDE, FIGHT." Run: If there is an escape path, evacuate. Hide: If evacuation is not possible, find a secure hiding place. Fight: As a last resort, and only when your life is in imminent danger, attempt to disrupt or incapacitate the shooter.
When reporting to emergency services, provide all available details, including the shooter's location, number, description, weapons, and the number of people in danger.
When law enforcement arrives, follow their instructions precisely, keep your hands visible, avoid sudden movements, and do not interfere with their actions.
Having a plan helps you react quickly and effectively in a high-stress situation, increasing your chances of survival.
