Oil Spill in Park Slope Triggers Heavy FDNY Hazmat Response

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — An oil spill on Seventh Avenue triggered a heavy fire department response at about 9 a.m. on Tuesday. According to an FDNY official, there was a liquid oil spill outside a laundromat at 425 Seventh Avenue. Crews from both the FDNY hazmat unit and utility companies were on the scene much of the morning. A fire official said he did not believe anyone was in any immediate harm. Crews had left the area by 10:45 a.m., according to a business owner nearby.
