Gearing up for 2017’s “Forklift Safety Day”

forklift safety day

Forklift Safety Day is an annual event hosted by the Industrial Truck Association held in Washington, D.C. and other major cities. Members of the ITA will focus on educating and re-educating government officials, business entities, and forklift operators about the major safety precautions and measures that are necessary for the operation of forklifts.

This year’s Forklift Safety Day will be held on June 13, 2017 and is the fourth year that the event has been going on.

Forklifts are an incredibly heavy, dangerous piece of equipment which contributes to powered industrial trucks being placed at #6 on OSHA Top 10 most cited violations. OSHA‘s statistics regarding forklift injuries and fatalities on a yearly basis are rough and rarely updated- but we can conclude that there are typically 30,000-35,000 serious injuries and about 80-100 deaths each year.

If you can’t make it to a Forklift Safety Day event hosted by ITA, you can observe Forklift Safety Day by hosting your own training session, safety meeting, or forklift safety refresher using the resources below:
