An integral part of your university’s Laboratory Safety Program is the Chemical Hygiene Plan. This plan is designed to protect you from chemical and physical hazards present in your instructional and research laboratories. A component of this plan is engineering controls. Engineering controls eliminate or reduce exposure to chemical or physical hazards through the use or substitution of engineered machinery or equipment.
