Forklift Safety Infographic: Making the Case for Rigorous Forklift Safety

Latest posts by Atlantic Research Team (see all)

It doesn’t take much to convince someone that forklift safety is vital in preventing forklift injuries and even deaths. The truth of the matter is that forklifts are heavy pieces of dangerous equipment that require safe operation and maintenance. That said, a forklift safety program is vital for companies that typically use forklifts in their operations.

In regards to forklift safety, OSHA states “determining the best way to protect workers from injury largely depends on the type of truck operated and the worksite where it is being used. Employers must ensure that each powered industrial truck operator is competent to operate a powered industrial truck safely, as demonstrated by the successful completion of the training and evaluation specified in 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(1).”

Additionally, they state that “All new powered industrial trucks acquired and used by an employer shall meet the design and construction requirements for powered industrial trucks established in the “American National Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks, Part II, ANSI B56.1-1969″, which is incorporated by reference as specified in §1910.6, except for vehicles intended primarily for earth moving or over-the-road hauling.”

The following infographic essentially breaks down the importance of forklifts and their strict safety. Not just forklift safety, but an emphasis on rigorous forklift safety to prevent extremely tragic injuries and even deaths in warehousing, manufacturing, and other prominent industries that employ the use of forklifts.
