Dennis McDade doesn’t care what you do – as long as you and your crew stay safe.
That’s the refrain of McDade’s “Safety Rap,” which has garnered more than 300,000 views on YouTube since he made the safety-focused rap video in 2008.
McDade, a lineman for Dominion Virginia Power, blends his passion for music and safety in the video, which features his co-workers from Dominion’s Fairfax, Va., office.
“I wanted to come up with a little bit of a different angle and have fun,” the 36-year-old told the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The Times-Dispatch notes that Dominion Virginia Power has not had a fatal work accident in over a decade, and has reduced reportable safety incidents by 27 percent since 2010.
“[McDade] helped us through a critical period in our safety culture performance,” Rodney Blevins, Dominion Resources Inc.’s senior vice president and chief information officer, told the newspaper.
