Safety data sheets or SDS’s which is formerly known as material safety data sheets or MSDS’s are another way to communicate hazards of chemical products. Chemical manufacturers, distributors or importers are required to provide them. Employers are required to make them readily available but you are responsible from reading them and applying the recommended safe work practices to protect yourself. Your employer will maintain copies of all SDS’s for chemical products you work with, they will be made readily accessible for you during each work shift in your work area, as long as they are no barriers that will prevent you from accessing the SDS’s electronic SDS’s is allowed.
