On March 3, 2001 the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued four repeat and one serious citation to the an auto service company following a recent inspection in one on their Connecticut shops. The company was fined $75,000 dollars for machine guarding and electrical hazards. This is not the first time PepBoys has been cited, in 2009 the company was cited and fined $70,000 dollars for the same issues in another location. During the inspection, OSHA found that employees were exposed to damaged power cords, which result in electrical shock, as well as to cuts or lacerations from a grinder that lacked a safety guard, a tongue guard and guarding of its spindle end. They also found missing face plates on an electrical outlet box and a snap switch box, which classify as a serious citation, resulting in a $5000 dollar fine.
