About Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air pollution is the leading cause in health related illnesses. Indoor Air pollution is causes by gases, bacteria, and particles that are released into the air. Inadequate ventilation increases indoor pollutant levels by not bringing in enough outdoor air to dilute emissions from indoor sources. High temperature, humidity, inadequate heating and cooling systems, construction, employee practices, and improper cleaning also increase concentrations of some pollutants. Indoor air pollution causes both short and long-term illnesses, depending on the length of exposure, what the contaminate is, and the amount of contaminates is in the air. Our Indoor Air Quality training products show employees the potentially harmful effects of poor indoor air quality. Proper training will help them prevent, identify and correct issues with solid Indoor Air Quality Solutions. Topics covered in these products include: The sources of air contamination, Adhesive/solvent fumes and vehicle exhaust, How a building's occupants affect indoor air quality, Pollutant pathways, including air ducts and crawlspaces, Heating and air conditioning systems, The signs and symptoms of poor air quality, Selection and use of personal protective equipment, and more.
OSHA's Position On Indoor Air Quality Training
OSHA has focused on a number of different areas, when it comes to protecting employees from harmful elements that can be located in the facility’s air that they breathe. Employers are obligated to keep track of harmful molds, bacteria or other particles that can be found either in confined areas or even open spaces (asbestos). These concerns will go hand-in-hand with other OSHA mandatory regulations, such as the use of respirators and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE). The training videos and tools that we provide will address topics such as:
- Confined Space Air Quality Testing (OSHA 1910.146)
- Mold Awareness Training
- Respirator Selection, Use and Maintenance (OSHA 1910.134)
- Crystalline Silica Hazards
- Carcinogenic Particles in the Air (OSHA 1910 Subpart Z)
- And other health topics
