About Ergonomics in Office

Ergonomics in Office

Office work is rapidly changing with the continuous developments in technology, which can make jobs easier, but it is also presenting new problems for both management and employees. It is becoming very costly when a person becomes injured or ill, given both these direct costs and the loss of the valuable services provided by the person. Ergonomics is a tool, which business owners and managers can use to help prevent injuries in the office environment. Ergonomics reduces the risk of injury by adapting the work to fit the employee, instead of forcing the employee to adapt to the work. Ergonomics is also enhances work performance, by removing the barriers that exist in many work places that prevent employees from performing to the best of their abilities. Our "Office Ergonomics" training products address how to recognize ergonomic problems, the potential of adverse effects and practical solutions employees themselves can use to help deal with ergonomic problems in the office. Topics covered in the products include: Physiology of the body, Parts of the body most affected, Eye strain, Pragmatic preventative measures, Correct use of office equipment, Exercises and stress release, and more.

Related training topics that will work in conjunction with Office Ergonomics Safety: Wellness and Fitness, Computer Stations, Back Safety, First Aid, Safety Posters

OSHA's Position On Ergonomics in Office Training

OSHA has made it a point to fully recognize the impact that advances in office technology have made, when it comes to potential employee health hazards. In addressing these new concerns, OSHA has specified a number of ergonomic suggestions that are designed to protect the health of those who work in an office (and other) environment. These suggestions are to be utilized as tools that can accomplish two primary objectives. First, pain and suffering, along with the associated costly medical treatment, can be avoided when it comes to the potential long-term effects of several different and routine job functions. Secondly, with the proper use of ergonomics, employees and their managers/supervisors can cut down on the number of missed days at work, therefore protecting a company’s production level. It’s also important to note that OSHA is currently in the process of considering mandatory regulations when it comes to proper ergonomic practices. Once that happens, it will be the employer’s responsibility to enforce these types of directives!

The training materials that we offer will cover such topics as:

  • The Definition of Ergonomics
  • The Risks Associated With Poor Ergonomic Practices
  • Knowing How to Identify the Early Warning Signs of Progressing Ergonomic Problems
  • Using Proper Posture in the Workplace
