About in Institutional Environments
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease can attack almost any part of the body but usually the lungs. Tuberculosis is spread from person to person through the air, usually between family members, close friends, and people who work or live together. TB is a treatable disease but if it is not treated, it can be fatal. Because the spread of Tuberculosis has increased dramatically in the U.S. in the last several years, OSHA issued a set of new Tuberculosis Safety Training DVD Directives, which enforce the 2008 Center for Disease Control (CDC) Tuberculosis Awareness Video/DVD and Guidelines. Our training products on "Guarding Against Tuberculosis in Institutional Environments" include the changes in respiratory protection requirements. These products are designed to assist facilities and operations whose employees have a risk of exposure to tuberculosis. They also help employees understand the nature of the disease, as well as what they can do to protect themselves from infection. Topics covered in these products include: Epidemiology and symptoms of tuberculosis, Modes by which tuberculosis is transmitted, The CDC Guidelines, The Exposure Control Plan, and more.
