About Compensation Training
Employee compensation is always a touchy subject. Employees always feel they deserve more pay and employers are usually reluctant to pay higher salaries but still want to be competitive. OSHA's Position On Compensation Training
While OSHA is responsible for regulations that ensure the safety of employees, it also plays a role in areas that involve employee compensation for work-related injuries. For example, OSHA has a mandatory regulation that requires 30-year retention of their existing medical records after an employee has left their job (29 CFR 1910.1020). Additionally, these records must be provided to the employee within 15 days of their request, at no expense to the employee.
There is also an OSHA mandatory regulation that stipulates employers with more than 10 employees (with a few “low hazard” occupation exceptions) to document injury or work-related illnesses by utilizing OSHA record logs (29 CFR 1904). Within these logs, any work-related injury or work-related illness that involves medical treatment beyond first aid must be documented in detail. Documentation is also required for work-related fatalities.
