Overturned tank truck of ethylene glycol in Baltimore

HMN-Overturned tank truck of ethylene glycol. 5200 gallons in modified MC306. Leak from blank dome captured, contained and stopped. Lost less than 50 gallons. Baltimore City Fire Department 6 Truck and Squad 26 made a quick stop of the leak by tightening the dome down on the gasket.

Update: Baltimore City FD Special Operations D shift units responded for an overturned tank truck. The landing gear on the trailer portion failed when separating from the tractor. The tank contained approximately 5000 gallons of ethylene glycol. Members from Squad 26 and Truck 6 quickly stabilized the trailer and secured the leaking dome lid. Hazmat 3 (spill response unit) and Engine 23 placed pop up pools and began to pump product into 55 gallon barrels.Rescue 1 was also requested to provide additional stabilization. A coordinated effort from special operations units minimized the leak to less than 50 gallons. Battalion Chief 6 held command throughout the incident. MDE Emergency Response was on scene throughout the incident and oversaw recovery operations provided by a local recovery company.
